Q. Out of the five senses, which one could you live without and why?
A. Taste- I could still do what I love–build relationships with clients, and be creative daily. I could also still smell wonderful food and candles.
Q. If you could keep only one of the five sense, which one would it be and why?
A. Sound- I am passionate about hearing others’ stories, backgrounds, interests and feeding off their energy.
Q. What is it that you enjoy so much about meeting new people on a daily basis?
A. I love hearing about a person’s journey – where they have been, where they are, and where they want to go. I love finding similar interests– recipes, travel experiences, new restaurants or events to check out. I believe that people always have something in common to share and be excited about. I love Grand Rapids because there is always something new popping up and someone new to meet. I am consistently amazed by how much I learn from meeting a new person and sharing stories. I hope I can teach them something new, as well. Ask me for sassy hair tips or about my Greek Dip recipe.
Q. How would you determine the way in which you will sculpt, color and style your client’s hair that gives them total faith in you.
A. The art of being a hair stylist is getting to know my clients, and communicating to reach a decision together. It is an ongoing process of being familiar with the likes and dislikes, personal style, and vision of my clients. At the beginning of each appointment, I spend time discussing options and getting on the same page. Together, we determine a style or new look that we agree upon. Overall, my goal is to have the client walk out feeling refreshed, confident, and sassy.
Q. Dreaming or daydreaming?
A. Dreaming. 6 months ago, I had the thought of “it would be fun to live in Grand Rapids,” only a daydream. I decided to take steps to explore the possibility, turning this daydream into my goal. I took a risk to move to a new city, and I haven’t looked back. Don’t get stuck in your daydreams. Be brave, find your dream and make it happen.
Q. What heavenly virtue and deadly sin would others see you as and why?
A. Heavenly Virtue: Kindness. I have a positive outlook on life, and I can find the good in every situation. I am kind regardless of a person’s actions. You never know what people are going through. If can share my positive energy, that might help change their outlook, as well.
Deadly Sin: Gluttony. I am a total foodie. I love indulging in new, unique foods and desserts. You know you have a problem when you are dreaming of and missing a meal from a restaurant you ate at three weeks ago….
Q. Why is customer care vital to our belief system at Sin Republic?
A. At Sin Republic, our clients come to us for our expertise, but also for our friendly and welcoming environment. We truly want every client to feel like they are a part of the Sin Republic family. When I first stepped into the salon to meet Sin and the rest of the team, I felt the warm, positive energy and genuine excitement of both the sculptors and the clients. I immediately felt a part of that family, and that is how we want our clients to feel, as well.
